Hello,

I have a problem with the display of fonts that are exported as svg:

Some text boxes (if they are animated, for example) then appear with a black background in the browser. This happens not only with animated elements, but also with normal headlines in the middle of the text, that they are suddenly backed with a black area.

Does anyone know this problem and how to solve it?

I'm sorry that you're getting a black background behind SVG text. Would you be able to send us your InDesign package (File > Package) or a sample InDesign file that recreates the issue and your output to troubleshoot? You can send them to us here: https://ajarproductions.com/pages/contact.php?category=in5

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm just about to upload the test file :-)

Thanks for sending your files. I've responded via email, but for anyone else who might see the same issue, here are some options:

  1. Change Text Rendering to Images (it's the best way to have the layout match the output.
  2. Use Object Export Options to export selected text as images and set Use Object Export Settings in the Advanced section of the export dialog.
  3. Clear any Character Style and/or Paragraph Style overrides. There may be an issue that we're looking into with the overrides and SVG text. There may have also been an issue with the font as this case worked once I cleared the overrides and changed the font.

Thanks for your help, Myra!

Rendering the entire text as an image is not an option for me, as I lose sharpness and readability.

But the workaround of grouping only the animated text blocks and exporting them with the "render groups as images" setting works.

For the other affected text parts, as you wrote, I deleted the paragraph style overrides and reset them manually, so it works as SVG. So it seems to have been only a problem with certain text styles.

Thanks again and best regards!
Excellent! I'm glad I could help. :)
